Andrew Baggott, Managing Partner of Clarke Nicklin, said: "This is our first year so we had to hope that people would get behind the initiative, but we needn't have worried. The response from the Stockport business community has been brilliant and the calibre of entries has exceeded our expectations.

"The awards evening was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate all that is great about Stockport. It recognised the achievements of some of its leading businesses, both large and small, who are outstanding organisations continuing to develop and expand, and giving something back to the business and wider community.

"I'd like to congratulate all the winners and shortlisted entries at this year's awards and look forward to building on its success in 2013."

cakeWinners include Robinsons Brewery which was named Business of the Year Turnover £5m+, Oil & Gas Job Search which was named Business of the Year Turnover up to £5m and ToxicFox.co.uk which was named Most Promising Young Business.

Over 300 people attended the glamorous black tie event at the Hallmark Hotel, in Handforth, hosted by BBC Radio Manchester's Becky Want. The event also raised £3,600 for the Seashell Trust. It was the culmination of 12 months planning from the organisers, who also had support from Headline Sponsors Gorvins Solicitors, Orbit Developments and Natwest Bank.

Andrew again; 2The whole process has reinforced our view that Stockport is a great place to do business. It was wonderful for us to see so many entrepreneurial businesses thriving in the region given this is the sector that we support with our services."
