Ben Poland is backing the bid!

stockport bidClarke Nicklin's Business Development Director Ben Poland has been leading Stockport's bid for city status in conjunction with Stockport Council. Ben says "No one knows all the business benefits and opportunities that City status may bring to Stockport but given that the application process costs little we have to go for it! City status would help to put us on the map as agencies such as MIDAS would actively promote us; it could be the catalyst we need to spark a programme of investment."

Stockport officially launched its bid to become a city at an SK&Away networking event which took place in February at Stockport College in the Joan Bakewell building – Dame Bakewell is one of the bid's celebrity backers.

Ben has conducted many media engagements including a tour round Stockport for Granada's 'Party People' political show and various radio interviews on BBC Radio Manchester, Imagine FM and Pure FM.

It's been a busy time for Ben who was recently selected to join the Government's "round pound" charitable giving group. The government wants to encourage a more giving culture and Ben is helping to look at ways that businesses can provide technological and innovative solutions to increase the amount of money donated to charity.
